Meet Sea-Lion!

I’ve got some work coming up which may involve a fair bit of 2D animation (exciting stuff!), but it’ll require learning animation using bones, instead of traditional frame-by-frame animation which I’m more used to. Time to practise!

These were done using Spriter. It’s pretty cool so far, but I could really use some mesh deformation tools to make the spine flexible.

So, let me guess— you just started a new book, right? And you’re stumped. You have no idea how much an AK47 goes for nowadays. I get ya, cousin. Tough world we live in. A writer’s gotta know, but them NSA hounds are after ya 24/7. I know, cousin, I know. If there was only a way to find out all of this rather edgy information without getting yourself in trouble…

You’re in luck, cousin. I have just the thing for ya.

It’s called Havocscope. It’s got information and prices for all sorts of edgy information. Ever wondered how much cocaine costs by the gram, or how much a kidney sells for, or (worst of all) how much it costs to hire an assassin?

I got your back, cousin. Just head over to Havocscope.

((PS: In case you’re wondering, Havocscope is a database full of information regarding the criminal underworld. The information you will find there has been taken from newspapers and police reports. It’s perfectly legal, no need to worry about the NSA hounds, cousin ;p))

Query from an editor for people with better web-fu than me:

I was thinking it would be a fun thing to have a randomized inspiration button on on our blog, which if you click will take you to one of our posts tagged /inspiration. Anyone feeling stuck for ideas could click it and get a surprise piece of art/text/something to get them going.

I know that adding /random to the end of a blog’s URL takes you to a random page, but if we did that it might take you to editorial posts or old kickstarter stuff or other things that aren’t creative prompts. Adding /random onto the URL for specific tags doesn’t work. I’ve googled but got pretty confused pretty fast. Anyone know if this would be possible and how to do it?

Roger Hiorns, Seizure, 2008

Rather than present a sculpture inside an architectural space, he’s turned every surface of the architectural space into sculpture. Mixing installation art and chemistry, he’s taken an entire abandoned apartment near London’s Elephant & Castle and transformed it into a gemstone. Covering the inside with blue copper sulphate crystals, he’s created an other-worldly, mineralized, glinting mirror of an everyday apartment. Jewels literally glowing from the ceiling and lining the floors… (via)
